I love books. I love photography. And I love getting to know new people. That's why I decided to combine these three things in this little feature called Picture This, where I ask other bloggers to share five pictures with us, bookish and non-bookish. But mostly bookish. This time, we're admiring snap shots taken by
hannah so obsessed with
Picture 1: Books That Made Me a Reader
"There are three books that have had the biggest impact on my reading journey: Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans, Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I used to beg my parents to read me Madeline when I was a little girl, and it's the first book I "learned" how to read. In reality, I just had it memorized! "In an old house in Paris..." In my early years of reading on my own, I fell in love with Anne Shirley. Millions of readers have met and adored this feisty redhead, and I was no different. She has remained, to this day, one of my very favorite literary heroines. Finally, Pride and Prejudice shaped my reading life as I entered high school, and it's been the book I return to whenever I need a reminder of why I love reading."Picture 2: How I Collect Book Quotes
"Like Judith, I absolutely adore quotes! If I've highlighted numerous quotes in a book, there's a pretty good chance I loved the book. While I do judge books by their covers, I can actually be sold on reading a book just by seeing a few quotes from it. That's why I love including quotes in my reviews, and I knew that I'd found a new favorite blog when I saw that Judith did, too. This is my stack of quote notebooks - only a few are filled in at this point, but I have plenty on standby just waiting for me to write in their pages!"Picture 3: Bookish Love Around the House
"I'm so embarrassed that I haven't gotten these lovely images framed yet, but that's not a reflection of my love for them. These are my lovely Ideal Bookshelf prints from artist Jane Mount. While she creates custom paintings, I actually just ordered two of the prints, 410 and 104, she had available in her shop. Why? Because they both included some of my very favorite books! I can't wait to frame these and find the perfect spot for them in my home. Just another little dose of bookish love to admire and enjoy!"Picture 4: My Favorite Reading Companion
"Meet my sweet and snuggly puppy, Jackson. My husband and I adopted him from a rescue organization last August, and now I can't imagine life before we had him. My favorite thing about this little boy is when he curls up in my lap while I read. But I have to watch out - he'll paw at my book if I don't make room for him fast enough. He's all about cuddling!"Picture 5: I Can Never Have Too Many Bookmarks
"When I first thought about what pictures I wanted to share, I never considered taking a picture of my bookmarks. I've actually always thought that I didn't really use bookmarks! Well, lo and behold, I was very wrong. I just don't use many "official" bookmarks. Instead, my books are filled with a variety of things to mark where I stop reading. If you opened one of my books you might find: Christmas cards, bobby pins, bookstore receipts, Post It notes, rubber bands, library slips... I could go on. Obviously, my bookmarks are as eclectic as my reading style!"

Thanks for sharing and participating, Hannah! I honestly love the colors of your pictures and your puppy is TOO CUTE! Plus, I know all about using whatever I can find as a bookmark, and I absolutely adore those prints. Think I might have to get some of those :)

Awwww! I love her!! I love that she loves Madeline! My girls have all the books and absolutely adore them. In fact, when out driving the other day, baby betty said "look mama- i think we are in paris". i said... why? she said "there is the eiffel tower!!" it was totally a cell tower or something of the like, but i loved that not only she remembered what it was called--- but even associated it with Paris! :) Love those books!
ReplyDeleteThe bookmark collection is amazing too. hahaha
Haha, the baby bettys are all kinds of awesome! (I totally thought that too when I was young haha.)
DeleteYAYYYYY MADELINE! I already loved the Baby Bettys, but this won me over completely. And that comment about the Eiffel Tower is too adorable for words!
DeleteI LOVE bookmarks, especially eccentric ones! and wow those book spine photos are amazing!
ReplyDelete- Juhina @ Maji Bookshelf
Glad you like the crazy bookmark collection :) And the book spine prints are so cool - hope you look at more of her work!
DeleteI love this series. :) Those prints are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThey are even cooler in person! Jane Mount is seriously so awesome!
DeleteGreat great pictures!! I love them.. especially the book prints that you ordered!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteOh my gosh I love this!! This is so cool Judith and I really feel like we got to know Hannah so much more! Love you both! :)
ReplyDeleteAw, <3 you!
DeleteAwwww I love both of you ladies! Glad you feel like you know me better + hope it makes you like me more haha!
DeleteThat puppy is absolutely adorable!! xD Awesome pics :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :) We think he's pretty darn cute!
DeleteI love the bookshelf prints, I may have a little look at those myself. Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou should! She has so many prints to pick from if you (like me) can't do a custom order!
DeleteJackson is so adorable! One of my cats likes to sit near me when I read as well, and she always butts the book and drags her face across the pages. I can't decide if she's being adorable, or an annoyance! XD
ReplyDeleteI think that depends on your mood haha
DeleteJackson thanks you for the kind words :) Sometimes it is annoying because he tries to lick the book pages. Like dude, calm it down. I don't want to have the pages sticking together!
DeleteLove this! I have similar "bookmarks". . . receipts are often use, as are post-its. Also, book notebooks are awesome. I feel I need to start collecting book quotes too--I highlight them or write them down on post-its, but I don't have any type of "system" for them.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have an eclectic bookmark collection, too! I just use whatever is handy - and I didn't realize quite how much variety that involved until I gathered all of them for the picture.
DeleteAnd I love having a book quote notebook! It's so much fun to flip back through and have all of my favorite book quotes stored in one place :)
I love Hannah! And the three books that got her into reading - those definitely are books that had a strong impact on me as well when I read them (Madeline as a child, Anne as a pre-teen/teen, P&P as an adult). Lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteYAYYY! I knew there were even more reasons why I loved you :) Of course AMAZING bookish taste is one of them!
DeleteLove the bookmarks photo!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThose notebooks are very pretty! I'm also a bookquote collector. I also love the images. I think they are going to look great when you have them framed on a wall.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! :D
Thanks so much! I know - I definitely need to get them framed! I don't know what it's taking me so long to actually get it done.
DeleteOoh, I love the vintage-ness of these pics, Hannah! And um, don't shoot me, but I think I may the only one who hasn't seen Les Mis, because I don't think I like the idea a movie with just singing. Don't think I'd be able to concentrate on the words. xD
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone! I haven't seen it either! But that's mostly because of the "everyone dies" aspect. Not sure if I'm in the mood for that haha.
DeleteGlad you like the vintage-ness! I emailed Judith in a state of extreme nervousness over the fact that I don't really have photography skills and took all of my pics on my phone haha! And I didn't really love the movie for the same reason! I'm not a huge musical person, so a movie with NO WORDS is just a little much.
DeleteAlthough it did motivate me to read the book, which I ended up not really liking. FAIL. Haha!
THOSE PRINTS! Oh my- I think it's love.
ReplyDeleteAren't they amazing?! Just go look at everything in her shop!
DeleteThis is actually such a fantastic idea! Loved all the shots
ReplyDeleteThe idea is all Judith's but thanks for the kind words about my pics :)
DeleteThis is a great meme idea! I love photography as well (though that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm good at it, haha), and Hannah's pictures were simply beautiful. ♥ Thanks for sharing, Judith and Hannah!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your blog is STUNNING. I love it!
Thank you so much!!
DeleteThanks for the kind words about my photos! I emailed Judith all nervous because I'm not really good at photography and took all of the pictures on my phone haha :)
DeleteAhhh, I love all these pictures!! What a great idea to picture the books that started you reading ♥ Although I read some ridiculous books in my youth, not sure I would want to share them all LOL Anne of Green Gables was one of my first ones though and that IS a brilliant book:) I adore those prints too, wow what a great idea! I'm big on quotes too but I usually collect then via Goodreads...I'm too lazy to write them all out but that is wonderful idea...gives them much more value! The shot of random bookmarks is neat too - thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Glad you liked that I shared the three books that had the biggest impact on me as a reader. And don't worry - I definitely read some random books in my youth. I was a HUGE horse person so I basically read anything and everything involving horses haha! And you really need to see the rest of her prints - they are amazing! I usually wait a while to write all the quotes down. I really need to get better at writing them down as soon as I find one I liked! Glad you enjoyed the random bookmarks, too :)
DeleteI'm seriously SO ASHAMED OF MYSELF. Seriously?! I never left you a comment on this post saying THANK YOU SO MUCH for including me and letting me participate :) I adore this feature, and I'm so sorry that it's been like a month since I've spent time on your blog. Confession: I've been majorly hoarding your blog posts!
